Christmas at FDM Retreat was a truly special festive celebration, thoughtfully designed with dogs and cats at the heart of everything we do, while also creating a warm and inclusive experience for families.
As a luxury, council-approved dog and cat retreat in Cambridgeshire, our Christmas event prioritised animal wellbeing above all else. Every activity was calm and enrichment-led, ensuring pets could enjoy the festive experience safely while owners and children shared in the joy.
A Festive Event Designed for Dogs and Cats First
Throughout the festive period, we welcomed both dogs and cats to the Retreat, carefully managing the environment to ensure it remained calm, safe, and suitable for all species. We had a strict one in one out system, utilising separate rooms to ensure no families interacted,
The Retreat was transformed into a festive setting that celebrated Christmas, allowing pets to engage at their own pace and comfort level.
Meeting Santa Paws in Cambridgeshire
One of the highlights of Christmas at the Retreat was a visit from Santa Paws, who met each dog and cat individually. Every interaction was gentle and unhurried, helping pets feel relaxed and confident.
Families enjoyed a festive photo opportunity in Santa’s sleigh, creating treasured Christmas keepsakes.
Special Visitors from the North Pole
Adding to the festive magic, we were joined by special elves from the North Pole, who helped bring the Christmas experience to life. Their visits were carefully managed to maintain a calm atmosphere suitable for both dogs and cats.
Festive Activities for Pets and Families
Our Christmas event offered enrichment-focused activities that allowed pets and children to take part together, including:
- Making personalised Christmas bauble decorations
- Decorating a festive treat for their dog or cat
- Playing in our much-loved bacon bubbles, a firm favourite with our canine guests
These activities encouraged positive interaction, creativity, and shared enjoyment, while always keeping animal welfare as the top priority.
Gifts, Keepsakes and Festive Memories
Every dog and cat went home with a variety of festive gifts, ensuring the Christmas experience continued beyond the Retreat. Families left with photographs, handmade decorations, and happy memories of a festive day centred around their pets.
